AKnght2Write is a dictation app made for novelists. It listens on the phone itself, learns the names in your world, and never loses a word, even in airplane mode.

An animated demonstration of AKnght2Write. The writer taps the paragraph button, holds Dictate and says a line of dialogue, and it lands on the page with curly quotation marks. They hold Command and say “replace water with river”, and the first sentence changes. Then the phone reads the chapter back.

A writing tool that listens, and keeps it to itself.
Most dictation sends your voice to somebody else’s computer. AKnght2Write does its listening on the phone in your hand, so a first draft stays where first drafts belong: with you.
It learns the names in your world
Fix Amira to Amyra once and it offers to remember. The cast list builds itself as you write, one book at a time.
Dialogue comes out as dialogue
Curly quotation marks, a new paragraph for each speaker, and quote that for the line it missed.
Edit by voice, safely
A small, fixed set of spoken commands. If it cannot make one out, it changes nothing and keeps what you said so you can try again. Your words are never lost.
Made for a pocket
Click a Bluetooth remote to start and to send. A buzz and a tone tell you it heard. The screen is optional, so the book keeps moving while you walk, drive, or lie in bed.
Hear it back
Listen to the chapter you just dictated, then fix it by voice. Dictate, listen, revise: the whole loop happens on the device.
The studio
There’s no I in AKnght.
Look closely at the name. AKnght Studios is a small team that has always worked remotely, making games and software together for more than a decade. We started with games: for kids, for phones, for other people’s ideas as well as our own. Now we make tools for writers, beginning with the one we wanted for ourselves.
No I
There is no I within our company, because only together can we succeed. Together we can make great things. As a team, we get things done.
Have fun
We love having fun, and think our work should show it. It is important to be professional, but fun is what sparks creativity and keeps us going.
Do your best
We expect the best from each other. However good or bad you are at a thing, always do your best. As a team, we deliver the best work we can.

Meet Randy and Jesse.
Randy
Founder · Lead developer
Randy started AKnght Studios and writes most of its code, in whichever language the job calls for. He is also writing a fantasy novel: more than 40,000 words so far, with about 80,000 to go. AKnght2Write exists because he wanted to keep the book going while he moved about, whether that meant walking, driving, or lying in bed.
Jesse
Developer · Web, hardware and DevOps
Jesse builds alongside Randy, and he is the one who can turn his hand to anything: web projects, hardware, IT, DevOps, and whatever else the day turns up. On the side he tends bar, with a hint of karaoke.
Earlier work
Before the writing tools, there were games.
Learning games for kids, an arcade defense game, a thriller, and the Android side of somebody else’s app. They have since left Google Play; they stay here because they are part of the story.
